COMUN Gouda 2024

For eight years now, a selection of students of the Coornhert Gymnasium have organised the Coornhert Model United Nations (COMUN). The upcoming conference will take place from the 9th until the 11th of February 2024 in Gouda, the Netherlands. 

COMUN is an internationally recognised three-day conference that focuses on personal growth alongside the traditional MUN debates. The conference will be divided into several fora, which can be found on https://www.comun.nl. The selected fora have a broad appeal inviting both first-time delegates and experienced delegates. 

This upcoming conference will be led by the theme “Shattered Vows: Tracing the Devastation Caused by Violating Human Rights". This theme explores the far-reaching consequences that result from violating fundamental human principles and obligations. Through this exploration, we gain insight into the dire consequences of neglecting our shared duty to uphold the principles of humanity. 

Gouda, the city where the conference will take place, is a vibrant and culturally diverse city known for its historic architecture and rich heritage. Gouda has won the award for most beautiful smaller Dutch city on several occasions, providing a stimulating backdrop for delegates to explore and appreciate the beauty of Dutch culture while participating in our conference. 

The conference fee consists of €50 for delegates, Student Officers, and MUN directors. This includes entrance to the conference, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and access to the COMUN-party on Saturday night. Additionally, COMUN offers an additional housing program for a small supplementary fee of €5 from Thursday evening until Sunday afternoon. While we strive to accommodate all requests, precedence will be accorded to individuals travelling longer distances or who would otherwise encounter participation constraints. 

Registration before the 15th of October will receive an early-bird discount of 10% on the participation fee. Registrations for Student Officers will close the first of November, while delegate registrations will close the first of December.
