Dear Future Participants of BIMUN’22,
It is my pleasure to warm-heartedly invite all of you to the 11th annual session of Budapest International Model United Nation (BIMUN) for 2022.
The last two years were challenging for all of us. We all needed to stay home in isolation for long months, deprived of social events and interactions. Now, everyone is eager, more than ever, to debate and make new friendships face-to-face. Fortunately, vaccines have been successfully developed, which can significantly reduce the dangers of infection and curb the pandemic. Therefore, we believe that it is safe to organize BIMUN 2022 in person in Budapest at Eötvös József Secondary School. For safety reasons we require each participant and organizer to demonstrate that they are either fully vaccinated or possess a negative PCR COVID test, which was taken within 48 hours prior to the event.
We will set up 8 committees, 3 of which are going to be beginner, 2 intermediate and 3 advanced. The beginner and intermediate committees will be committees of the General Assembly discussing a working paper, whereas the advanced committees will operate on an ad hoc basis. Similarly to previous years, the most experienced delegates will be facing a fictional crisis, meaning the escalation of an existing geopolitical tension. Delegates in these advanced committees need to give adequate response to unexpected conflicts, which requires excellent problem solving skills and an extensive knowledge about current affairs.
This year, our main theme will be technologies, especially focusing on the potentials and dangers of it. Delegates will be dealing with many interesting issues in this topic from their committee’s aspect. For example, participants will debate and talk about big data, sustainability, robotization, gene-engineering and much more!
We aim to give the best and most memorable experience by organizing both professional and informal events during the conference free of charge. We continue the tradition of the Day0 programme taking place on the 7th of April, where delegates can participate in workshops and attend the lectures of a wide range of professionals. On the Diplomat Soirée delegates will be given the chance to engage in discussion with diplomats, professors and former MUN-ers.
Besides the professional aspects of the conference we also value team building. This is why we invite all participants to the sight-seeing game, boat trip and Official Party.
The conference will be held in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, from the 8th to the 12th of April, 2022. The application process has already started, you can register delegations on our website.
We cannot wait to meet you at BIMUN 2022!
