Boston Area Regional Model United Nations
Boston Area Regional Model United Nations
A premier conference on the collegiate Model UN circuit, BarMUN is Boston University's annual collegiate Model United Nations conference. The conference is hosted at the Boston Park Plaza, one of the most renowned hotels in this historic city. Fun fact: all but two United States Presidents that have served since the hotel’s opening in 1925 have stayed at the Boston Park Plaza, and the hotel was the first in the world to introduce radios in every room. Both the hotel and Boston University are situated in the heart of Boston, and both are in walking distance of Fenway Park, the Massachusetts State House, several tourist attractions, and multiple shopping and nightlife districts.
BarMUN has ranked among the top conferences in the World Division of collegiate Model U.N. for the past several years, drawing delegates from top ranked teams who come to Boston from a myriad of different continents; last year, delegates from all across the circuit voted BarMUN as an “Outstanding Conference” according to Best Delegate! Our secretariat prides itself on our professionalism, passion, and persistent pursuit of excellence in every endeavor.
BarMUN is a branch of the Boston University International Affairs Association (BUIAA), the largest student group on the campus of Boston University. Between its branches, the Association welcomes more than 450 unique members across schools and class years. Learn more about us here.
Professionalism. Inspiration. Passion.
Our motto of "Professionalism, Inspiration, and Passion" dictates our goal to provide a truly unique conference experience for our delegates and staff, from committees to social events to accommodations, with the utmost dedication and passion towards uplifting the MUN community and serving world beyond it. We are a conference that believes in justice and equity for all, and we believe that rivers of change can begin at any source — including delegates like you.
Committees Offered:
General Assembly
BarMUN is excited to bring back its double-delegate General Assembly committee. Delegates can expect a competitive and collaborative environment with delegates from most of BarMUN’s delegations.
ECOSOC
BarMUN’s ECOSOC committees are mid-sized bodies that address a variety of specialized topics from various international organizations, featuring a new ECOSOC Ad Hoc committee. These committees draw inspiration from both United Nations-affiliated organs and international legislative bodies.
Crisis
Crisis committees have been the crux of BarMUN from the very beginning. We prioritize a smaller sized crisis committee with heavy involvement from staff and highly engaging topics. BarMUN XVI will also offer a joint crisis committee and its two famed advanced crisis committees.
