Human evolution set a natural distribution of men and women among the population. The normal sex ratio (number of women per man) was determined by the World’s Health Organization to be 0,95, but the current value is 1,01. This study explains well the current gender inequality and discrimination against women in the most important stages of life, if applied to specific target groups. First, a low sex ratio at birth (or early period of life) suggests practices such as female infanticide or sex-selective abortion, which cause the phenomenon described by the economist Amartya Sen as missing women.
