Since 1997, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has been a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime. In that order, the Republic of Iraq has been supported by UNODC especially to ensure the effectiveness of the fight against corruption. This UN organism developed a number of important actions following the UNODC Strategy 2012 – 2015, adopted by ECOSOC in its resolution E/RES/2012/1; but nowadays, it is focused on topics that go from alternative development issues to terrorism prevention ones.
