The Question of Freedom of Religion

The Federative Republic of Brazil believes that all individuals should have the freedom of religion. This right should be propagated throughout the international community to ensure continued diversity and peace. In recent times, with the rise of extremism in all aspects of life, be it religious, political or otherwise, now is the time that we as an international community spread the message of peace and tolerance.

Article 5 of the Brazilian constitution provides freedom of religion, while various other laws exist to protect the free practice of religion. This includes the criminal code protecting religious freedoms through the persecution of hate speech or incitement.
