I. The question of the relevance of agreements such as Trade Facilitation Agreement, NAFTA, TPP in the present global trade environment
China strongly believes globalization has the power to elevate worldwide growth but protectionism could lead to war and poverty. China utterly acknowledges that free trade is the core to globalization, it promotes an effective mechanism to globalize its economy and strengthen economic relations with other nations; hence free trade should not be suppressed. Therefore, China has been tackling protectionism and engaging in multilateral trade deals. For example, at the present China has 19 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) under construction, among which 14 Agreements have been signed and implemented, which includes Trade Facilitation Agreement, Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and Free Trade Area for the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP).
