Violence against women, even in this age, remains a very prevalent issue in both developing and developed countries. With more and more efforts being put into attaining gender equality, these issues must be looked into with more importance than ever. A few distinguishable patterns are physical violence, sexual violence and psychological abuse. One of the most unacceptable forms is FGM(Female Genital Mutilation). There are different types of FGM, but none that does not cause direct harm to women and their future.(1) Other mentionable types of violence is domestic violence. Sexual violence is any kind of sexual act committed without the active consent from the partner. An example from India’s 2012 Delhi gang rape shows how rape can go as far as to be a mortal enemy for women(2). Last is forced marriages. Often times these girls are taken out of school, and then most likely to be subjected to further domestic violence all their lives.
