DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on copyright in the Digital Single Market

GUE/NGL agrees on the growing pressure of the need of a Digital Single Market, but we want this market to the people.

Indeed we are afraid that the current proposition of the Commission does not go further enough to protect the rights of consumers but also the rights of Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SME). First of all, because of the lack of transparency, it is impossible to guarantee the best price to consumers as long as even in a European digital market, different websites can sell the exact same things at difference prices. Second of all, we are afraid that the tools used by this digital market do not push forward SME but on the contrary multinational companies.
