The Kingdom of Belgium would like to highlight that the Digital Single Market is digital key driver for growth, not to mention its importance as a seamless marketplace within Europe which remove the online barriers which still exist between Member States and which limit access to digital goods and services. The Kingdom of Belgium completely agrees and supports all the efforts to establish and standardize the implementation of Digital Single Market, especially regarding issues related to copyright. Beyond internal trade, Europe’s Digital Single Market – 28 countries, 500 million consumers – has crucial impact on the innovation and global competitiveness.
The Kingdom of Belgium sees the need to go up a gear and turn the Digital Single Market into a success. In a truly digital economy, businesses take full advantage of the opportunities offered by digital technologies, both to improve their productivity and to reach consumers. Over the coming years, the digital revolution will be one of the strongest engines of growth, jobs and health and safety. Moreover, one of the main aims is to support the EU-wide harmonization of smart and appropriate laws on privacy, ecommerce, consumer protection and copyright in order to facilitate the ease of doing business within the Single Market.
