From the early 70s to the late 90s, Cambodia was a country that produced hundreds of thousands of refugees due to widespread civil wars in the country. In 1998, Cambodia was unified under one government, one constitution and one monarchy. This was the time when Cambodia was able to fully develop itself. As the peace time goes on, refugee topic is no longer a big topic as it used to be for the Cambodian society in the past. As a matter of fact, nowadays the migration topic has become a big topic instead simply due to the economic reasons rather than safety reasons in the peace time. Of course, Cambodia is still a developing country. Therefore, the number of emigrants exceeds the number of immigrants. Most emigrants seek a better opportunity elsewhere for a certain period of time. This could be for advancing further education and most frequently seeking a high-paid job.
