Fatema Zahra Benslimane Position Paper Country: Paraguay Committee: World Health Organization Topic: The Zika Virus

On 27 November 2015, the National IHR Focal Point of Paraguay alerted the World Health Organization that 6 laboratories have confirmed Zika Virus infections in the city of Pedro Caballero; it is located in the north east of the country and shares its border with Brazil. The Central Public Health Laboratory of the Ministry of Health made the diagnosis. The patients presented had fever, headaches, nauseas, etc.; and the patient’s age range was from 14 to 45 years old. The Republic of Paraguay has prepared medical kits in hospitals to treat patients with necessary care.
