Topic: Empowering women in the line with the Sustainable Development Goals

Two thirds of children denied education around the world are girls. We need to remember as ECOSOC what we are here to do. ECOSOC is supposed to bring people and issues together to promote collective action for a sustainable world. The Republic of Congo fully supports women’s empowerment that is Goal Number 5, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. As the world advances towards gender equality and women’s empowerment, women and girls continue to suffer segregation and savagery in all aspects throughout the world. Furthermore, within the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), we should no longer ignore those nations who want our help, have the same goals and want to develop and provide a better lifestyle for their citizens.

The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), adopted in 1979 by the UN General Assembly, is regularly depicted as a worldwide bill of rights for women.
