Topic A: Protecting the rights of the Rohingya in Myanmar Country: India Committee: Human Rights Council

The Human Rights council was created with the goal of protecting International Human Rights. The council is here to discuss the protection of the rights of the Rohingya, however we have already passed a resolution in 2013 and discussed the issue in 2016. It is time for the council to pass a resolution that can be successful in protecting the rights of this minority. The Rohingya are one of the most persecuted minorities and has now suffered a form of ethnic cleansing as of 2016. In recent years the protection of this muslim minority has become crucial as it disrupts the security of the region and crimes against humanity have been violated. Reports of mass rapes, killings and torture have emerged. India has often been silent on this issue, but we strongly believe it is time to take a more assertive plan of action to protect the rights of the Rohingya.
