Position Paper Committee: Security Council Topic: Children in Armed Conflict Country: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland The six grave violations as defined by the United Nations are killing or maiming, recruitment or use of child soldiers, rape and any other forms of sexual violence, abduction, attacks against schools or hospitals and denial of humanitarian access. Along with these violations, there is also a tragic social and humanitarian impact of armed conflict to children, their families, and the entire world. Families are split apart and child refugees are forced to rely on the mercy of host nations. This problem is important to the international community because there are over 200 million children who are currently affected.
