County: Thailand Committee: GA 4 Delegate: Ishan Date School: Indian School Al Ghubra Topic: Improving the coordination of efforts against trafficking in persons “You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know.” -William Wilberforce With the eagerly desired onset of the 21st century, the world has witnessed some enthralling changes and discovered the possible constructive and advantageous solutions to various global issues. However one of the most sensitive and comparatively dismissive issue that of human trafficking still prevails and the 27 million adults and 13 million children who are impacted around the world only reflect this. They become easy soft targets for the immoral exploitation rackets which involve 79% of the victims being exploited sexually and 19 % for bonded labor. Despite the significant steps taken by the UN and various other regional organizations it has failed to create an impact because of certain problematic and deeply upsetting factors being illiteracy, stateless, migrating, displaced habitants and the prime contributor being poverty because of which the unethical and unprincipled existence of human trafficking still prevails. Thailand is committed to abolish human trafficking in the right earnest and has portrayed impactful and effective measures.
