I. “Saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty, advancing economic growth... these are one and the same fight. We must connect the dots between climate change, water scarcity, energy shortages, global health, food security and women's empowerment. Solutions to one problem must be solutions for all. “-Ban Ki-moon. The Increasing world population and it’s corresponding resource requirements leading to unequal resource distribution bring us to the dilemma where a considerably high ratio, 40% of people remain in poverty and contribute to only 5% of the Global Income.

Eradicating poverty, creating employment opportunities and promoting sustainable patterns of production and consumption, and protecting and managing the natural resource base of economic and social development are the overarching objectives of and essential requirements for Sustainable Development. Part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as ratified by the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit on 25 September 2015, the 8th Sustainable Development Goal targeting “Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all” remains a cornerstone to achieve Sustainable Development, as decent work and poverty eradication shoulder the reality of the three dimensions of Sustainable Development into being.
