PROMOTION AND PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS – CHILDREN AND ARMED CONFLICTS
Saudi Arabia is the world’s leading oil producer and undoubtedly one of the richest countries in the world. Since the mid-1970s, Saudi Arabia has made significant contributions to international developmental aid through organizations such as Official Development Assistance (ODA) amounting to over USD 49 million. Unfortunately, not all of its citizens are afforded the opportunity to enjoy this wealth. Additionally, not all of its children live in luxury or given the same basic human rights. The United Nations has called on Saudi Arabia to revoke laws that condone the flogging, stoning and execution of children.
