Topic: Improving the coordination of efforts against trafficking in persons

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, children consist of a third of all victims trafficked worldwide, with women and girls compromising of 71% of victims trafficked. Human trafficking occurs within states and transnationally for a variety of reasons including, but not limited to, forced labor, forced marriages and sexual exploitation. The scale of the matter encompasses over 136 countries, developed and developing world, and therefore requires a global response and cooperation.
