Topic Background There has been an extensive change in the pattern of the contemporary warfare; children and other by standers are victimized by the terror groups as they are the soft targets. Many of these children are maimed, killed, raped or turned into laborers. It is one of the most dangerous problems faced in our time which wasn’t given importance it required. These children in economically and socially displaced areas are turned into child soldiers due to an increase in the trade of illicit and small arms trade. Most of these victims are children and as their minds are not completely developed they are inspired by those groups and belonging to financially weak families they look upon to these situations as an opportunity to survive and lead a good life. Boys are physically abused and tortured and girls are married to their men and raped frequently, leading to an increase in their problems and are infected with various diseases and infections like HIV, and AIDS

Why is the issue relevant and important to the international community? This issue has become a matter of international recognition. In 2007, UNICEF estimated that around 250,000 children were active in armed forces around the world and 230 million children are affected by armed conflicts around the world. The horrifying part of the story is that these children are the future; a bitter past would destroy not only their present but also their future.
