Committee: General Assembly Topic: Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons Country: The Dominion of Canada Delegates: Wenkai Calvin Since the first significant milestone in UN’s fight against illicit trade of SALW came in 2000, eliminating the conflict violence, post-conflict violence and non-conflict violence had become the main goals of the General Assembly. During its long fight against the illicit trade in SALW, the multi-faceted and greatly complicated issue has troubled the united nation for long. Moreover, the threat of SALW remains highly violent during and after the conflict that reflects a 20-25 per cent risk of sliding back to conflict within the next five years.
