Intro of Cambodia: Cambodia is a parliamentary country with a population of 15,957,223. For every 100 people in Cambodia, 3 possess Small Arms or Light Weapons (SALW) illegally. Reports suggests that the level of firearm and ammunition smuggling in Cambodia is high, and so does the amount of money spent on illicit SALW, especially compared with our low GDP per capita which is $1000 a year.
Intro of the World: Although Cambodia is in a poor circumstance, 72 other Member States are in worse situations. There are 875 million illicit SALW estimated to be in circulation worldwide and their value is up to $8.5 billion.
Actions that have been taken: Two main actions that were taken by the United Nation are the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects (PoA) and the International Tracing Instrument (ITI) adopted in 2001 and 2005.
