Topic A: European Border and Coast Guard Regulation

The Greens/EFA recognize that there is a desperate need for European border management. In order for the Schengen area to remain intact and to preserve the principle of free movement of persons, our European borders have to be secured. However, besides common border surveillance we also face the necessity of a common policy on migration and asylum with respect for human rights and protection of refugees. Only by addressing these entire issues European border management can be effective and successful in securing our population while at the same time remaining accessible to those who rightfully seek protection in the EU.
