Malnutrition strikes the youngest generation of Mozambique hard. This has an effect that lasts through generations, and eventually will destabilize the whole nation. Although the planned intervention will help school-going children in the future, most of the damage is done in younger children (before age of 6). The prevalence for underweight in preschool children is 27%, for stunting 55% (low height for age) and for wasting 8% (low weight for height).
