THE SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC

Before any discussion or argumentation is presented, two crucial points must be made. First, the United Nations recognises Bashar al-Assad as the legitimate head of state of the Syrian Arab Republic due to his re-election as president in 2014. As such, this position paper reflects the position of the Syrian Government, and not any other terrorist or destructive groups found in Syria. This follows on to the second crucial point; as the legitimate and one true government of Syria, only al-Assad’s Government can provide order and stability to the country. However, this is not in question during this present discussion, but what is to be done concerning the Syrian refugees. As a consequence, no discussion regarding the politics of legitimacy or authority in Syria will be discussed.
