Position Paper Cape Verde
We, the African Union, seek to find efficient solutions regarding security and as such I am pleased to see two major issues that keep our continent from developing on our agenda. Both, directly threaten the basic human rights of our people and constitute the foundation of the ridge that holds back the flood of prosperity that could vitalise the African ground. The first issue being the ongoing violence between military and paramilitary groups in the Central African Republic (CAR) as well as the recruitment of child soldiers. The second, interrelated, issue being the need to safeguard Africa’s natural resources against exploitation.
