The French Republic has been following with a lot of concern the Syrian Refugees Crisis as it represents a huge humanitarian challenge for the international community. In addition, geographical proximity makes the European Union one of the principal protagonists of the Migratory Crisis. European Countries have had to react very quickly to this crisis; the lack of national organizations able to shelter the thousands of migrants and manage the welcoming centers, pointed to the fact that that we neither forecast these events nor were we ready enough to deal with them. Si vis pacem, para bellum. With fellow European colleagues, French Minister of the Interior Bernard Cazeneuve has been working for the last three years on building a common European plan to face the issues raised by the huge influx of migrants, with 100 000 irregular entries onto European soil in July 2015 alone, and sea arrivals in Europe exceeding 1 million in 2015.
