Migration, the movement of individuals from one location to another, has always been present throughout human history. It varies in its form – between countries or within the same borders – in its causes – because of voluntary decisions or because of external conditions – and in its effects on society – be it social, economic, cultural.

Turkey has a very important relationship with migration, due to both geographic and historic circumstances.
