Topic A: Response to the threat of violent non-state actors in Yemen The recent activities in Yemen are seen as a result of the beginning of the Arab Spring, consequently, when the country experienced large protests in attempt to overthrow the government. Primarily two groups rose from these protests: one group whom was loyal to the former President, and another group whom was loyal to the current government. The violence between the two actors has continued to rise, and non-state actors such as the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda has also begun disrupting the Yemeni Society.
