Esteemed Chairs and fellow Delegates, It is a great honour for the delegate of Greece to be a part of the IAEA Committee during LodzMUN 2016. Apart from representing the interests of the country, the delegate is also looking forward to putting a contribution to finding a solution to the problems addressed in the Committees’ agenda. Greece is a country that has been at the centre of international talks for some time now, primarily due to its financial problems. However, there exists an issue that, however not discussed so often, needs to be addressed with as much diligence and caution – the disposal of nuclear waste. The majority of nuclear waste in Greece is classified as low level. There are no nuclear plants in Greece at the moment and the main radioactive waste source – the research reactor (GRR -1) at the National Centre of Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSR “D”)...
