Honourable Chairs and Distinguished Delegates,

The Republic of Guatemala is a country in Central America bordered by Mexico, the Pacific Ocean, Belize, the Caribbean, Honduras and El Salvador. With an estimated population of 15.8 million, it is the most populous state in Central America. Along with Honduras and El Salvador it makes up the Northern Triangle, the most violent region in the world and the main focus of our UN conference of 2016.
