Following the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), in June 2012, UN Member States have been working to create the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to follow on from the MDGs. The SDGs will form the blueprint for development policy and funding for the next 15 years. The SDGs pledge to “end poverty. Everywhere. Permanently”. They are broader than the MDGs and are made up of 17 goals that seek to address the most pressing sustainability challenges facing the world by 2030.
