Cuba has undertaken a significant portion of responsibility in blocking the transmission of drugs from South America to North America. Cuba has since contributed to the long-term goals of United Nations with ratifications and implementations of international treaties such as the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs (1961). Representatives from Cuba are participating in the UNGASS discussions to take responsibility for the drug use world wide.
