Firstly, the Estonian Government is favourable to the initiative taken by the Commission to purpose a Regulation on the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation and Training (Europol).
The co-operation between Estonia and Europol has become more and more intensive in recent years. Estonia is an active participant in analytical projects to secure both national and the European Union's common internal security.
According to the Estonian Government, in order to improve the information exchange between the Member States, “the existing capabilities and cooperation structures (of Europol) can be used more efficiently”. The Government supports the Commission with regard to the increase in Europol’s capabilities to collect data.
