Position Paper of the United Kingdom on the Energy Union

The United Kingdom believes that there is a value in a process of further, targeted integration of EU energy markets, designed to strengthen its energy resilience in the context of delivering the EU’s Energy and Climate goals so long as they are done in a cost-effective manner while minimizing impacts on consumers.

Each of the “Five Pillars” identified by the Commission as the basis of an Energy Union represent key areas that need to be addressed without isolating them for each pillar is linked inextricably with the other.
