Above all, the Slovak Republic hails the Commission's action to create a resilient Energy Union. However, we wish to examine some points of the 'Energy Union Package' that do no comply perfectly with our interests.

The first issue is concerning the diversification of our Energy resources. Indeed, the Slovak Republic's domestic gas production is negligible and will decrease further. Consequently, we are highly depend on Russia for gas imports and expect to stay dependent in the near future. Our relationship with Russia is based on our geographical and historical situation, which simplifies the supply under a long-term import contract.
