Greece has a long history.It is considered the cradle of Western civilization, having been the birthplace of Democracy, Western philosophy, the Olympic Games, Western literature, and Western drama, including both tragedy and comedy. Greece's rich cultural legacy is also reflected by its 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Greece believes that culture should be kept intact and should not be disturbed in the times of war as culture is something that can be directly linked with nationality, and assists in holding a nation together.

Greece strongly condemns any destruction of monuments of cultural heritage in the name of war and firmly believes that war should only be fought on the battlefield between soldiers.
