More than a million violent crimes occurred in the United States in 2014. At more than 40 cases per 100,000 people, homicide rates in cities like St. Louis and Detroit are about 10 times that of the national average. While the loss of so many lives is in itself a massive cost to society, violence also costs the US greatly in dollars and cents - over $1.7 trillion has been spent on violence containment in the US. That’s over $5000 per American – enough for you to get your family three semi-autos to defend against the violence yourselves.
