Ⅰ General Information The Disarmament and International Security Committee is concerned with the effect missile defense technology will bring about. It could reduce nuclear deterrence and has the potential to make casualties lopsided to one party. Lithuania is aware of these possible consequences; however, Lithuania is also burdened with the responsibility to protect the life, property and the right to the pursuit of happiness of its people. Missile defense is the most realistic method for a “weak” state to fulfill this responsibility against the “powerful” states that wield nuclear power.

Ⅱ Specifics The country of Lithuania is confident that missile defense technology can reduce the possibility of conventional war if implemented properly.
