TOPIC A: Water Crisis: Water-borne Diseases and Sustainable Solutions

The Republic of Ecuador, being situated in a tropical region of the world, is prone to the issue of water-borne diseases, most notably bacterial diarrhoea, hepatitis A and typhoid fever. These are all bacterial and viral strains thriving in our warm and wet environment. Thus, the provision of clean water to our country is vital. As we are a small, developing nation, these issues are crucial and difficult to address. Ecuador is and will continue to do everything possible to improve the health provision for its citizens. As our president Rafael Correa said, "Ecuador is a country which defends the right to life."
