Topic A : The Right to Health

Since 1946, the Constitution of the World Health Organization (WHO) has consecrated health as a fundamental human right. According to the preamble, health is a _“state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of diseases or infirmity. (…) The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.” _

In the respect of this fundamental text, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire is trying its best to promote an accessible Health Care that every country must ensure to its population. The Republic of Côte d’Ivoire is a developing country where the health question is crucial, so our public authorities have to develop and modernize the health benefits. The 2002 civil war brought severe disruption to public services. Health professionals left the country and Côte d’Ivoire has a shortage of skilled medical personnel (1 doctor for nearly 10,000 persons). Free healthcare was recently introduced h...
