The issues before the SPECPOL committee contain untouched and unmarked cultures (UUC) in various areas around the world. The sovereignty of these cultures, as well as their survival and the grantance of their human rights are in the center of the discussion. The obligation of UN member states arises from Article 73 of the Charter of the United Nations, supporting non-integrated cultures in pursuing self-determination and sustainable development.

The Republic of India has several cultures of UUC within their territory and is largely willing to cooperate with other nations in order to combine strengths in the effort of executing their engagement towards supporting these cultures. Over the past years, particularly the difficulties in integrating UUC without endangering their survival has become apparent.
