Japan is aware of the huge challenges that the uncontacted and unmarked cultures (UUCs) have to face nowadays. The UUCs are vulnerable to external contagions and face a great difficulty dealing with unwanted intrusion by outsiders. In such a globalized world as ours today, their exposure to the benefits of technological and societal advancements is yet limited. Many members of such UUCs die due to diseases that, with our modern medicine, could be cured in one day. On the other hand, a sudden intervention might adversely affect their sovereignty and cultural and religious preservation among others. They have already established food habits over the years that correspond to certain specific resources. Therefore, leaving the forest could be as deadly for them as staying there.
