Position Paper THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL COALITION’S ACTIONS AGAINST ISIS Country: Nigeria In 2015, Nigeria was No. 3 on the List of Terror-Affected Nations (Institute for Economics and Peace 2015). The events in 2015 underlined that ISIS represents an enormous threat to the countries’ peace and stability. Nonetheless, the international community most widely ignored the Boko Haram attacks. Since 2011, Boko Haram has murdered over 10000 people; in 2014 alone it was responsible for around a third of all civilians killed in conflict in Africa. Unlike in the past, it has recently sought to conquer territory and has gained control of a significant number of municipalities in north-eastern Nigeria.
