1) How the conflict began:

The Afghan conflict began in the cold war in 1978 where the communist party led a bloody coup against the nations first president in the Saur Revolution, once in power the Peoples Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) ran the country with an iron hammer, with curfews travel bans mass - incarnations and repression of dissent,this is when nearly all levels of society stepped up and joined the resistance against the communist government, but by 1979 the Soviet Union barged in to support the communist government.
