Defending the Defenders: the Rights of Human Rights Activists

As a member of the United Nations, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), recognizes the importance of respecting human rights. However, the UAE considers national security to be at grave risk due to revolutionaries and religious fundamentalists abusing speech and assembly in order to further their own agendas. As such, the UAE strongly believes in careful examinations of all so-called “human rights activists” to ensure that such abuses are not occurring. The world today is unstable with terrorist groups like Daesh inflaming tensions and attempting to engulf the world in turmoil.
