TOPIC A : CHILD TRAFFICKING
Thailand is directly concerned bu the issue of children trafficking. It is unfortunately “a source, destination, and transit country for men, women, and children subjected to forced labor and sex trafficking” (US State Department Trafficking in Person Report). In the East Asia and Pacific area, the children represent a third of the persons victim of human trafficking. In Thailand, they are used both for forced labor and sex exploitation. The Government is trying to solve the whole human trafficking issue, with however a special concern for child trafficking: the sanctions are increased for child traffickers. Thailand updated its legal system to comply with the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, signed in 2003. In 2008, the Thai government passed the Anti-Trafficking in Person Act, that respects the international standards.
