Committee : World Health Organization

Country : Yemen

Delegate : Edouard Volatier, Sciences Po Strasbourg

Topic : Addressing Issues of Mental Health in Areas of Conflict

Yemen considers Issues of Mental Health in Areas of Conflict as a subject of primary importance. Actually the country faces a fierce civil war and regional military intervention which have left the country with a crumbling economy and without a government or civil services. In 2017, the United Nations (UN) declared Yemen to be the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Yet Yemen has barely any mental health services or sufficient support for populations suffering from distress. More than half of all health facilities have closed or are only partially functioning. Strongly concerned by these issues, Yemen is proud to participate to the World Health Organization and truly convinced that solutions will be found to ensure the well-being of populations.
