Topic A: Protecting and Promoting the Freedom of Expression in the Cyberspace

Ever since the 2016 US presidential elections, fake news on social media and freedom of expression on the Internet are addressed by the global public. Nevertheless, freedom of expression in the cyberspace goes beyond disinformation and also includes obstacles to Web access, censorship, violation of user rights and liability of third-party content. Iceland is one of the most connected countries in the world with an Internet penetration of 99% and is considered a leader in promoting freedom of speech and an example to other nations.
