Russia believes that the obesity and diabetes epidemic, though increasing everywhere, is caused due to different factors in different economic groups. Until the late 20th century, dietary issues in developing and underdeveloped countries focused more on the health consequences of malnutrition, especially stunting in children and anaemic women of child-bearing age. The situation now has changed, considering that the world has now been caught in a situation that malnourishment causes obesity subsequently leading to diabetes, and that there are more obese people that malnourished. Russia also wants to put forward that even though this adiposity is increasing everywhere, the epidemiology differs according to the age of obesity epidemic.
